Frequently Asked Questions
Is my donation to the St. Anthony North Health Foundation tax deductible?
If you receive goods or services in return for giving money, the answer is no. It is no different than if you purchased something. However if you are making a straight donation and you are not receiving any goods or services in return for your donation, then the answer is yes. The St. Anthony North Health Foundation is qualified as a tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the IRS Code; all donations to the Foundation are tax deductible. For how much you can deduct, please consult your tax adviser and the IRS web site. All donations will be processed through the Development Office to ensure proper IRS receipting
To whom should my check be made payable and to what office should gifts be directed?
All donations should be made payable to St. Anthony North Health Foundation (SAN Health Foundation) and mailed to the foundation at 2551 W. 84th Ave., Westminster, CO 80031. Donations may also be made online through our web site. To make a donation over the phone, please call 303-650-7345.
May I choose where my donation to St. Anthony North goes?
You can designate your donation to go to whatever program you would like.
I don’t want anyone to know that I have made a contribution. Is it possible to remain anonymous?
Yes, we are ethically bound to respect your wishes, and we will not make your contribution known to the public. The staff and board members pledge not to disclose, communicate, publish, release, or permit the communication of sensitive or confidential donor information unless you choose to make it known.
Where does my gift have the most impact?
Your own interests should be your guide. If you do not wish to designate to a specific fund, the Hospital Program Support Fund is an account that allocates undesignated monies to the hospital's programs with greatest need.
What is an Endowment?
An endowment is money that a donor contributes that is invested by the Foundation. The earnings from the investments are then used for the different programs. An endowment is a great way to give to the hospital because it will continue to help others in perpetuity.
Do matching gifts count toward donor recognition?
Yes, matching gifts count toward recognition. For example, a donor who gives $5,000 and files a one-to-one company match claim within the fiscal year is recognized for a gift of $10,000 for the same fiscal year. Contact the Development Office to see if your company matches your gift and to receive the applicable forms.
To qualify for calendar year tax purposes, what is the last day I can make a contribution?
It depends on your gift. If you make a contribution by credit card, you have until midnight December 31. If you are sending your gift through mail, your gift must be postmarked by December 31 and received by the Development Office shortly thereafter.
I’m not rich, far from it. Isn’t it the big gifts that really matter?
Large gifts are essential to the St. Anthony North Health Foundation, but so are more modest ones. When gifts are combined, they add up and provide critical help to our programs, services and capital projects.
What if I am a member of the St. Anthony North Staff?
Staff can make a contribution through payroll deduction. A payroll deduction is very easy to initiate. The staff member decides how much he/she wants to give each month. The amount is automatically deducted by the payroll office. Please contact the Development Office for assistance or more information on how to participate in payroll deductions.
What if someone does not wish to be solicited by the hospital?
If someone does not wish to be solicited, the person should call, write, or e-mail the Development Office and request that they code the person’s record as “No Solicitation”.
